If you look around you....you'll see trends being started and old trends being revived...but did you ever wonder; Who started it? How? Where? Why?
Most of us just take the trends that come... and go with the flow, we never question or research it.
A famous Quote from the movie 'The Devil Wears Prada'
"This... stuff? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blindly unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St. Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of stuff."
Something so simple can make such an impact.
Something so simple can make such an impact.
For example:
The Side ponytail
It became most popular in the 80's where icons such as Debbie Gibson and Madonna wore it.
I think this was a continue from the youth rebellion in the 60's, when youth turned against the lifestyles of their parents and started their own. No more perfect straight poytails.
and look how this trend has evolved up to now...
Just look at the impact Jeans have made.
"Some of the earliest American blue jeans were made by Jacob Davis, Calvin Rogers, and Levi Strauss in 1873. Starting in the 1950s, jeans, originally designed for the U.S. Army and working people, became popular among teenagers. Historic brands include Levi's, Lee, and Wrangler. Jeans come in various fits, including skinny, tapered, straight, boot cut, Mommy-cut, maternity, and flare."
The younger Generations are the ones that impact the world now, we make the trends.
Its how we use this power... that makes the difference.
